On my home tonight I stopped by one of my customers home to meet his neighbor. He had a WM gold oil boiler installed with a tankless coil and kept complaining about not enough dhw.By the way a 3 section boiler,no flow resictor and a hand mixer left from the old boiler.I know I may sometimes get on some of you that are plumbers about heating installs, but this one is from one of the biggest in my area.Going to repipe it and add a aqua booster to help out the dhw.Yes I did try to upgrade to a indirect but not always get that sale. Will post the job when done.By the way this job was installed only 6 months ago.

The circulator is puping right at the expansion tank.Do you think that these boys need to go back to 101 hydronic school.

    Circ location

I see this all the time. Weil had the right idea, they put the packaged circs right on top. They should have made the bx longer and put a big orange sticker on it that shows how the rest of the system should be piped.

    Todd.

I think they did that to save on the tie strap or bolt that they started with that held it to the pallet .

    Pennies count !

  • Theyre heart was in the right place

A LWCO , the relief piped to the floor , a mixer for the coil ( its even broken-in ) , up on blocks - that baby is a work of art . Now if they only had a level and read a book or 2 on piping techniques ....

    Flow restrictor

Doesn't this application require a 3 gpm flow restictor?
How many homes today can get by with 3 gpm of domestic hotwater? The soot around the fire box indicates very questionable combustion. The oil lines laying exposed for foot traffic are not a real good idea either. No wonder you are questioning this install, it is very sad!
