grundfos brute model up1542fc circulator with built in check val

I am looking at putting in a new oil fired boiler soon and I am looking at using grundfos brute model up1542fc circulators with built in check valves pumping away from the boiler to the different heating zones and not using any flow controls after the pump.

Just checking to see if anyone has done this type of boiler job and if you had any trouble with the job or if the grundfos circulators had any trouble like hot water bleading through and over heating a zone.

I am going to use the argo circulator zone relay with priority zone control. most likley there will be four heating zones and one indirect water heater zone.
What type of controls have you used when zoning with circulators?

thanks for your time and help.

thanks bob eck

    grundfoss circs-jim f.

heres a jobin randolph, vt. we used grundfoss 3 speed circs on. no check valves in the pumps though. not sure if i like that(personal reasons i guess). we also use taco or argo circulator zoning controls on a majority of applications

These two links will shed some light on flow controls. You didn't mention what piping arrangement you will use. Flow control needs to be considered regardless.

Grundfos has a new 3 speed 15-58, I believe that has an intergral check. It allow some flexability if you are unsure of you pump requirements on the various zones.

I just purchased these Taco controls for a job. Very nice stuff! Lots of wiring room, nice assortment of add ons, great directions, well packaged. I am impressed with the gauge of the metal on the box and cover, nice stuff.

We've had the circ with check on the market

for 3 years and have experienced great success. The succes of the UP 15-43FC drove the development of our new "Super Brute" UPS 15-58FC. We've improved performance and added flexibility with 3 speed technology. Email me with any questions.

I've attatched the product brochure for the new pump.

    15-42fc

I have used a bunch of these w/ no problems what so ever...one of my suppiers can't keep them on the shelf!
Taco has finally answered w/ their version. I definately like the taco series of controls over the argo or honeywell...nice lights, easy to read, adaptable. the exp offers a lot of good features as add ons ie. Outdoor reset, zone purging, pump exercizing, priority protection...slick to wire! kpc

    Zone panels

We use Taco and Argo panels and like both. Be careful of the lip on the metal when you're wiring it. My hand slipped and it was like running a knife down your knuckle. I cover top and bottom with elec tape now. Thats the only bad thing I can say about them though.

    Flo check pumps

I have about 40 circs out there.(UP15-42)I havent had any "issues"I love them.Saves T&M and gives you room.As far as switching relays I use Argo and Taco.Depends on the needs and the availability!
