Time Lag

I am sizing a boiler feed pump however, The system has 3 different returns with 3 different time lines.
#1 return gets hot in about 15min
#2 gets hot in about 30min
#3 gets it at about 45min
You guessed it which one do I use.

that's a good one. Are the distances that much different? Or might it be a missing vents or bad traps that's creating the difference in lags?Retired and loving it.0 -
Time Lag
The system has a very poor venting system. and the traps where never maintained for 4 years. I thought about this one too and im begining to ask myself should i correct these problems first then redo the calculation.
what do you think?

Insulation on piping?
Boiler fired to the load?
Returns clean?
Water clean?
Near boiler piping right?
All can contribute to slow heating, and slow returning condensate, in addition to the venting.

It's so unusual
that I think I'd go after that first before sizing a receiver that would be as big as a hot tub.Retired and loving it.0 -

It looks like the DC heater on the last steam ship I was on
Got lots to learn from ye land lubbers
