    EDR ?

Dan's book "Lost ARt of Steam", on page 14 has a defination of EDR.
Turns out that You could calculate the surface area of a radiator rather easily.
Turn the radiator upside down and fill with water, The trick is to know how much water you put in. be as exact as possible. recorde that number (in gallons) and empty the rad so it will not freese.
The gallonage is a function of the volume of the rad. convert it to cubic inches (gallons X 231)
now take the cube root of that number. your calculator on the computer will do it for you.
That number will be the outside surface area of that volume of water. a close enough approximation for the EDR (sq foot)

    PS

You could do it by weight also Place it on a scale record the weight, fill with water record the weight. the difference is thw water's weight. and then go from there. you'll still need the cube root function of the computer. have fun

    I've seen some McKeesport radiators

the ones I'm familiar with are "large-tube" units similar to the American "Corto", National "Aero", U.S. "Capitol" or Weil-McLain "Cameo". If they look similar to your radiators, one of these charts should work.

    I have

McKeesport radiators in my house. I've always assumed that they were manufactured in McKeesport PA which is not too far away from here.

Mine look like rather generic thin tube hot water rads, so I used the table from the Heating Q&A Gravity Hot-Water Heating document here at heatinghelp.com. Seems to have worked pretty well.

McKeesport may have manufactured different styles of rads, so your milage may vary.
