  • Ahh , Yes

The tabletop boiler . We see them alot in Syosset . This is one we did over there - thats gotta be the tightest fit of a boiler Ive seen. Did you install a new one there ?
  • The only boiler that will fit

back in there is the WBV 3 , and we still had to chop the chimney . Tedious work .

  • At first glance

I thought we were in for a loooooong day on this one . The whole kitchen was white tile and there was a cabinet around the boiler . But once we got out the old one - I forget if its a York , or G.E. ? - and put in the new one , alls I did was call out numbers for my 2 partners to cut pipe , while I sat and got 5 gallon bucket-**** . Thanks alot Scott .

Ron, I use the GO from W/M on most of these. Most people want the old cover to go back on,and the GO is low so it works,I also put the x-tank in closet behind wall in bedroom so I don't kill myself when servicing.
  • Does the flue pipe

line up good with the Gold ? I was thinking of asking to use the Weil Gold L boiler next time we install one . But I thought it would be tough with the 7 inch flue . We are pretty lucky in that most people got rid of the old cover and had new ones made that are bigger . Otherwise , I believe we inform them beforehand that the new one will not fit with the old cover .

    Will it fit?

Ron like a dream! Really ,what I do is to use 2 90's and cut them back as much as you can, them install on boiler & start to push boiler back into chimney opening.John@Reliable P.S. Burnham makes a flue set-up that is rear mount have asked for years to see one,but only got a photo-copy so I don't know if it would work.

    Ron you are

amazing, the quality of your work in those tight spaces is top notch.

I`ve been meaning to write this for a while but never got around to it til` now.

I guess you`re living proof that there`s no excuse for shoddy work.

    Draft

    Ron jr,

I guess barometric is out of the question.
Are there any problems with draft, EA high?

    Nice "implant"

Just would like to know? How do you clean the chimmey base or replace the flue pipe in the future??
  • Thank you very much Jim .

I really appeciate the kind words . And youre absolutely right , there is never an excuse to do shoddy work . Take care .
  • I forgot the numbers on this one

but I dont think the draft was high - these are one story houses - maybe that helps bring the draft to normal numbers? When we install the Weil Golds off the floor in a Levitt , the draft readings are always on the money also - without a damper . Thank you Al.
  • Its ALOT easier with the Peerless in there .

I think we installed a valve before the expansion tank , if not , everyone should know how to pull a vac by now . After you take out the tank , you remove the top jacket and flue hood and theres plenty of room to get a vacuum into the boiler and into the chimney . Replacing the fluepipe is a little tricky , but if you cut away some pipes and tilt the boiler , it shouldnt be too hard . Not that the fuepipe will ever need replacing - at least before the need of a new boiler .

    Skill

    Ron JR,

Sitting there getting a 5 gal. bucket **** brings to mind Starbucks sitting on a nail keg planning out the entire job.

Isn't it great to look at something and visualize what to do and how to do it with out going to the drawing board.

Like Dan's story, "once it's in your mind you own it".

    Skill to be thankful for.

    Just curious

Do the home owners complain that the oil burner is louder than the old one? Was the old burner a 1725 rpm? The riello is a nice burner for the application, quite and reliable. Great work, You have the patience of a saint.
  • Yes

The old one was a slow speed burner . I had to go back to this job a few months later to install a backflow preventer and the homeowner was very grateful for the added hot water . He didnt say anything about the sound though.

Most people are used to the burner firing at once . But after a few days of getting used to the delayed ignition of the Riello , it becomes everyday background noise . Most people say the new burner and boiler are quiter than the old .
