Which is better: replace the existing pump (the suction of which is directly connected to the laundry tub drain (hung off drain)) or install a floor mount sump with a submersible pump.

That would requier a sewage ejection system to be code approved. Sealed and vented sump, submersible pump. Because it is tied to the sanaitary sewer. other wise a garbage can and sub. pump wold do it! bigugh0 -
Here in Mass. it is ok to have one fixture pumped directly into the sanitary without a vent. I would recommed you just replace the direct connect pump.0
