We just finished this one last week. I need to remember to take "before" pictures. This replaced an old 40 gallon natural gas HWH, and an oversized Wiel-McLain with two pilots.

We also seperated one sunroom into a new zone to give it better response.

NOT so many toggles ! 1 for every pump, and 1 for the system . Not national code , but both we and our electrician think this is a wonderful thing . Anyone else think this is a good thing?(seperate to service?)
    I like it !

    Kevin ....

No , it wasn't a gravity conversion ,(at this point) but I'm sure the oversized abomination that we removed, was in response to one.
The header was feeding the whole house. It was 2and1/2 inch bushed down along the way. I'm sure the "dead men" did this for a reason .Fuel was quite cheap at the time , and bigger was better .I found evidence of oil lines coming from an underground tank nearby. I'm sure that when the original system was installed and converted from coal to oil, the oil company would come and fill the tank for something like 7.00$. Pricey then but wishful thinking now !
I think we were looking at , more likley than not , a 4th incarnation of heating this home .The owners have been upgrading all systems in the last few years and were open to the options posed to them . My understanding was that the owner actually asked the Buderus company who had installed the most of their equipment, in the immediate area . We got the call and got the job .
    Thanks for the kind words.

    Nice job Scott and Company!!!!!

I love being able to isolate each circulator. Just makes sense!

MURPH!!!! We need to compare notes so we don't end up bringing the same stuff!!

    Lookin' forward to the party!!

    Four man lift

We compete in that event when we do these boilers. We can give the homeowners so much more room with that footprint. Its a nice option.

Lift with your legs not your back :)

Better find ya some Buderus-Blue spray paint. The green of the Taco box clashes with the boiler
  • I like

The separate conduit for control wiring - including the connector/bushing arrangement at the end.

And it's not often you get a boiler room with a view!

  • I right clicked

on your original pic , and save it to my desktop . Then I brought up my digital camera software and resized the pic to the size I usually make mine . Then I will rename the pic so I know which one I want to post .

One question - is that Taco control an all low voltage control ? I didnt see any line voltage going into it .
  • How would you get those

into a basement , without denting up the jacket ? Do they come apart easy ? The 2 or 3 piggybacks we installed were all on the same floor .

    Seperate units

Ron, they both come well packed and seperatly.

The jackets come off the same as any other boiler, maybe just a few more screws.

Depending upon model, the front feet come aff and attach to a bracket on the top of the tank and the rear feet sit on the tank.

Wait till you see the munchkin we put on a tank, no back problems there.

    Yes

Color control can be a problem. We want a happy boiler and pretty boilers are happy boilers ( in my best interior designer voice ).

    No

Ron the 110 lines come in the back of the control. Thats one of the nice things about Buderus, they have a 3" thick blanket of insulation around the block. Wiring can be run behind the jacket on top of the insulation. Makes it look neat. That control comes with priority but we have it thru the Buderus control.

    Tough Decisions

One tough choice on a Buderus install I found is where to place the circulators .......... I mean imagine a leaky flange gasket above that $$$$ Buderus brain..... I cringe at the thought :0
