Dan I rescently completed a conversion of of 2 pipe gravity system of course used the method of pumping away. The system heats the house great the problem came when I installed an indirect Hot water heater now I'm getting heat backing up on the first floor when the customer is showering. Can you provide any assistence should I put in a check valve or go to a second flow valve on the return? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

dan's out of town, so ........
If you used a larger pump for the indirect, which is often needed, you could
very well be pushing water through the heating system.
A second flow check on the return from the heating system should end that
problem.
Curious, did you pipe the boiler in a Primary/Secondary configuration? If it
is a low mass, non-condensing boiler it NEEDS to be protected from low temp
return water from the system.
If you could post some pics we could possibly help pinpoint the trouble
spot.
Gravity systems are a thing of beauty and simplicity. But simplicity is
often the ultimate in complexity.
If all else fails, put a competitors sticker on the boiler and let them
figure it out!
Have FUN!!

A day is never dull... If you learn something
I guess there is a reason for having the competiter's stickers. Now I know! Perhaps cheaper than tools! This whole world is slowly going nuts! Soon we the unlearned, will be able to do the impossible, without anything {except stickers} at all. (Law of conservation of resources) bigugh0 -
