Problem with a Weil Mclain & Riello

I was doing a startup today of a WM WGO-4 with a riello F-5
All of the paperwork with burner & boiler said to use a 1.00
gph 60 deg solid nozzle, and no matter what I did, could not
clean up the smoke any better than a #4! Had a -.04 breech,
-.02 of, 350F net & 9% co2. Thought I possibly had a bad nozzle, replaced, pump pres at 155psi, also had impingment
on bottom of casting and rumbling. I set turbulator at 3,
and air at 4.5 according to WM spec and no matter where I moved either I could not clean it up. I ended up changing nozzle to a hollow & it was like nite & day, no smoke.
Has anyone else seen this, or am I missing something?
Thanks AL

What was the CO2 after you changed
the nozzle to a hollow ? We use the Weil Gold L with the F3 and we usually get close to 13% CO2 . A few months ago we had a bad run on Hago nozzles . Another thing we've seen - not in the Weil , but in the Burnham V8s , is that the boiler and chimney have to be nice and hot or itll give off a sooty flame .0 -
12.5 %, and I messed with this baby long enough for the chimney to be plenty warm, as you could probably see by the draft #'s----Thanks AL0 -
One more question
Was the hard filters on the nozzles dried up before you installed them ? Ive had a few problems in the past with the nozzles sitting around so long the oil dries in there and screwed up the flame .0
