Residential Oil Furnace

I have recently purchased a townhome with a 26 year old forced air oil furnace that will require immediate replacement. There are obviusly many brands of oil furnaces, without the bias of the Contractors selling the equipment, I would like to know some opinions on the best name brands for heaters. I have heard carrier is great from one contractor and bottom line from another. I know its not bottom line, but where does carrier rank with the likes of Armstrong, Thermo-flo, Columbia and the many other heaters on the market. Also, how much does it generally cost to replace the heating coils inside? Shoud it be included in the price? Should they be replaced or just cleaned if they are 26 yrs old? If anyone has any additional advice when selecting a contractor for this type of job, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Heating coils?
Rob, A warm air furnace does not have a heating coil. The heat exchanger is probably what you are refering to. The heat exchanger gets cleaned annually with a tune up by your service company. In my opinion the Thermopride furnace is the top of the line. The unit will cost more than the other brands that you mentioned but the labor should be the same. That is my rational in selling the top of the line. You will never be disapointed with quality. If the budjet allows you might want to consider converting your warm air system to hydroair. This conversion offers a lot of options to space heating and domestic hot water.0
