Old steam heat loss calculator - check it out!

Options
Ever seen one of these? One of my men found this in his basement from way back when - 1937 it says! It is an old steam heat loss calculator. You set the three dials for cubic feet of room, square feet of glass and square feet of exposed walls. It then has you add up the three numbers shown and that is your square feet of steam radiation needed for the room. New hot water systems were "the enemy" so, if you notice, it says right on the tool - "FOR HOT WATER ADD 60%" - pretty good marketing. If you notice too - up in the right hand corner - it claims that it is the only boiler that steams with 15% of it's water boiling.

    Thanks for showing that.

We've come a long way, baby. Do you have one of these, yet?

    That's Why...

...I like my books. The power can go off in the entire world, and as long as it's not night, I can just look stuff up :)
