Hi everyone..

I read the other day and downloaded a table on boiling points of water at a givin altitude. Great Stuff!

Does anyone know a table for the boiling point of water at a givin pressure?

    Steam Tables

These tables are available in any number of publications. The "Pocket Ref" has them, for instance.

What you need to watch, is the pressure side of the tables. Some are in gauge pressure, but most are in absolute pressure. The difference is the pressure of the atmosphere. Gauge pressure tables start at zero, which is "0" gauge - the same pressure you read on a steam boiler that's off line, and cold. If you need to match gauge pressure to absolute, add 14.7. Therefore, 1 PSIG will be the same as 15.7 PSIA. For most purposes, round 14.7 to 15 and it'll be close enough. 125 PSIG will be 140 PSIA. The corresponding temperature is 353*F. The common mistake is to read "125" off the gauge, then look at "125" in absolute in the steam tables. This will give you a corresponding temp of 344*F. The steam tables in the old Audels "Power Plant Engineers Guide" were/are great, because they give you BOTH pressures, side by side, with the corresponding temperature and heat information.

The "Pocket Ref" and Spirax Sarco's "Hook-Ups" both have their tables in gauge pressure. Aside from the Audels book, every other one I've seen is in absolute. (You need absolute pressure for a lot of calculations.)
