My 2 cents
Hi Tim, For what it's worth here is someting I'm finding is becoming more and more popular. You may already do this, But technicians seem to appreciate the hands on portion of my seminars. So I have been adding to the collection of live items they can actually put their hands on and see how things work from begining to end.
I'll show you some examples at the gatering this weekend as I have been asked to bring along the diagnostic simulator I recently built.
I'm proud to say I recently had that with me during a business trip to Ohio and even my good friends at R.W. Beckett were impressed with the simulator.
Hope this information is helpful.

And ThaT !
Brings up again the training you can do yourself, in taking with you the old diseased equipment and carefully taking it apart to locate the reason it failed. Then just sweep it into the trash can. disassembling gas valves and oil burners and relays and controls is one easy way to know your trade. Apprentices could report what they find to their journeymen. Doctors do it why not we? bigugh0
