steel compression tank

The tank has to be isolated from the water system; either chilled or hot water. Then drain the tank, close the drain valve and reopen the tank to the system. If the tank waterlogs, then you have a leak in the tank, the sight glass, the gage cocks, or the drain valve. If you lose the air cushion, it has to go somewhere. Use soap bubbles to detect the leak. Hope this helps.

steel compression tank
how do you fill a system with a steel compression tank so the tank doesnt fill with water.0 -
How?
Not to be wise, but why would you want too.Drain tank completly and turn back on,Water must enter tank to work right.hope this helps0 -
assuming the tank is presently empty
close its drain valve, then open its valve on the system pipe. if your boiler pressure is about one atmosphere--14.7 psi-- the air in the tank will compress in half. you will now have a tank 1/2 water and 1/2 air. thats how i do the ones i service.0 -
