Is something like the cutting wheel or a roller lose?
We've rented a Ridgid 258 for cutting 8" pipe (the unit is driven with a Ridgid 700) and it can be tricky to get cuts started without spiraling. You just have to push/pull on the handle of the 700 to get the cutting unit square to the pipe. We bump the 700 in forward and reverse a couple of times to get things lined up. Then it's pump the foot pedal a few times to drive the cutting wheel into the pipe. When we hear the 700 starting to work a bit, we stop pumping for a couple of revolutions.

Just bought
the Rigid Cutting station and the cutter is spiraling up the copper rather than cutting it. What is the quick and easy solution?
