bad circs on steam loop

Have a cust who goes through allot of circulators.He has aa hot water loop off of a steam boiler.What should I look for?I didn't look at job yet.He said the pump is close to the boiler.Thanks Mike

if he's not blending the water
with a bypass around the boiler then the water temperature is probably more than the circulator seal can handle. Also, if there's a strainer at the inlet to the circulator there may not be enough net positive suction head, which will cause the pump to cavitate and fail.
Also, bronze-body circulators last longest in this application. And I like the 1750-rpm circulators for this because they have wider clearances through their impellers.Retired and loving it.0
