Using some RTI plates for staple up. When using plates, how close should the insulation be to the plates? Right up against them? Down a couple inches? At the bottom of the joists? Thanks in advance. Will be using Fiberglass batts.

The plates
do all the work.So push the insulation up tight, there is no need for a air space.
