Oil Fired Boiler question Fred

Its been a while since I rebuilt a combustion chamber in a boiler . Do you still use vermiculite to fill around the box or is there a new product out there that works better? Thanks for any assistance Fred

    Oil Firde Boiler

    Fred,

What is the model of the boiler. Some can be replaced with a Quickee 100 or 200 series. The is also kaoboard in various thicknesses along with dry and wet blanket material. The interlocking brick kits should be backfilled with vermiculite. The Quickee series should not. Lynn manufacturing is just one company that comes to mind right off the top of my head.

    Fred..

Whenever I do backfill a chamber with vermiculite, I cap it off with smooth cote or some other high temp cement. This makes for a neater job and helps burn off if the reset is pushed too many times.
