Bacharach PCA

I recently sent one of my PCA's back for repair and calibration. A while ago I asked for changes to the software for the PCA and on this recent repair cycle I was able to have the software in my model 25 PCA upgraded. Here is what you get:
Prior to the upgrade you were restricted to using the HP thermal IR printer. THe reason for this is that the HP is not the industry standard IRDa style of communication. Now with the upgrade you can go into the menu and select from several printer communication protocols. One being the HP and the other being the more common IRDa.
Now for you real techno guys..... How 'bout dumping the data from the Bacharach PCA directly to a Palm pilot Via the IRDa ports????
Or maybe to the Laptop in the truck so the results of the Efficiency test are printed directly on the receipt or job ticket.

    PCA upgrade

Jim, if you are seriously interested in being able to download the test results to your laptop, your instrument can be upgraded to have 'advance communications' for about $200.
I've only ever downloaded it to an excel spreadsheet but I imagine there would be a way to include it on an invoice. If you would like, get in touch and I can hook you up with an engineer at the plant who could give you some more info.

    PCA Upgrades

    Thanks Rudy.
Actually, I also have a PCA model 55 that has the communications package you refer to. This package communicates via a serial port, hard wired, on the bottom of the PCA. I have looked at this but It is cumbersome.
Hell, here is a real place for Bacharach and the other instrument companies to explore, Why not make the PCA have Palm top abilities? Like being able to schedule things and make notes? I can see it now...... carrying a PCA on my hip and making phonecalls from the dentist office with my super duper PCA-Organizer. :)
