Long run on 3/8 oil line to run two appliances
I have a 1000 gal oil tank. Its approx. 35 feet to an oil fired forced air furnace in the house. Its a two line system. I put a tee in the line and run approx 80 more feet for a total of approx ll0 feet to a dual fuel oil/wood
furnace outside of the house. There is approx. a 7 ft lift in the ll0 ft run. I have check valves in the supply line after the tee going to both the house furnace and the outside furnace. I can pump oil to the forced air oil furnace in the house however, the outside furnace pump (suntec with a Beckett Burner will not draw the distance.
The burner has a single stage pump that comes with the burner.
One source suggested a two stage pump with a tiger loop.
Not sure exactly how this works. Would appreciate any ideas one might have to make this long run function. I relaize that I am stretching the long run with 3/8 line however, the run from the tank to the inside furnace is concealed with finished ceiling. The supply to the outside furnace contains a tee, a check valve, oil filter, with shutoff valves on both sides and one 90 degree elbow.
Thank you, Joe

new oillines
i think you need to run a new supply and return lines
from tank to out door unit in 1/2 copper sounds like 3/8
oil line is to small how about a vacumm test on oil line feeding out door unit maybe vacuum leak at tee on supply

Put in the Tiger Loop....
Pull the oil to it with a hand pump, get the tiger loop primed with oi and then the pump will be okay.
I even bet you will get away with the single stage pump.
You see with the Tiger Loop you only have to pull the amount of oil that you are actually firing at
since you are recirculating the return back throught the Tiger Loop and not all the way back to the tank.
Give it a try you can't lose.... the Tiger Loop is a good investment either way and it probably will save you
a ton of trouble.0 -
