Bill @ Honeywell..Old zone Valves and 8200/8300 gas valves

Have an oppurtunity to pick up 14 new in the box V8002V 20V 3 wire zone valves, 1 1/4 inch straight body. Was wondering if parts are still available for these valves. Nice bellows packing in these valves and a CV of 20.3. Also been checking themocouple output on every Dunkirk boiler I install with 8200/8300 gas valves with the gray cover. They have been running about 23 MV when just connected directly to the meter. Quite a bit lower than than previously. Thought you might like to know.

Old valves & T'couples
In most cases,Honeywell maintains a supply of spare parts for 10 years after a control is obsoleted. Those valves have been gone for more than that, so no parts are available. The thermocouples that come from the OEM are probably Q340's, the basic model. Try a Q390, see if there is a difference. I will pass this info on, though. Thanks for the input.0 -
Thermocouples
This came up recently in some of my classes a discussion about the output of t'couples being lower than in the past. They are reporting 22 to 25 millivolts open circuit (that is with the t'couple disconnectd from the valve and connected directly to the meter with the pilot lit). I teach that you should get 30 millivolts at least on an open circuit. I took 15 different t'couples into the Lab and Igor an I tested them I came up with 29 to as high as 36 millivolts brand new. A call to several manufactureres and I was informed that they now consider 25 millivolts to be adequate. I have a problem with that especially on water heaters that have an ECO tied into the millivolt circuit and in some case even a spill switch and now we even add a WAGS Valve. That is too much of a draw on 25 millivolt output.0
