steam boiler pressuretrol and siphon tube

the siphon tube and non-mercury type pressuretrol at a 45 degree angle due to being in the shroud of the boiler. ive two questions.
first- is this okay for the pressuretrol? or do even non-mercury types need to be straight up.
second- couldn't the siphon tube just be replaced with 1/4'' piping forming a p-trap, low enough to allow straight mounting of the pressuretrol? dont most commercial boilers just have a p-trap type set-up for the pressuretrols,not a complete loop?

It should be upright with a trap see attachment.Page 3 shows a good photo of set-up
