And the answer is

being on your last call, five miles off the main road, down to your last smoke, cell phone won't reach out in the middle of no where, and last but not least you realize the truck gas tank is way past E. Who ever said this was a dull business.

Peace Be With You

P.S. It's funny how most had to look for something real great
but, like in our business check the basics first!

    Almost the same

#2 diesel and #2 fuel oil used to be the same stuff but now there are slight differences. The biggest difference is that #2 fuel oil is slightly less stable than the fuel without the dye. I don't think I would want to run a truck on a steady diet of fuel oil without using additives but it will get you by in a pinch. No problems running diesel through any product designed for #2 fuel.

    fuel

as it was explained to me by my late father who happened to be the director of the Water & Fuel Dept. shull district of philtadelphia Pa. The ASTM standard for #2 diesel and #2 fuel is the same. In practice The storage terminals and distributors add water to the heating oil to push maxlimits per the standards. Proof is in the court cases that he won against school district suppliers in philly. One case was 12 in. of water in 5000 gal. tank with first load of fuel after tank cleaning and certification. shmucks are too dumb to heed a warning and catch themselves. Diesel fuel is not dyed per Fed.DOT regulation (Thanks to "russian "mob in NY. a couple of years ago skimming highway tax money)Also on average the fuel is filtered a little better. Since then the EPA has lowered the sulfur and other "pollutant" levels allowed in diesel fuel. I still use settled out and filtered #2 fuel in my older offroad equipment as it was designed with certain fuel luricicty requirements that todays diesel can not meet without additives. On road equipment and vehicles don't want to get caught with dye in fuel tanks .The fines and penalties for tax evasion and fraud on state and Federal levels are too high. Ask any truck driver how friendly the bears are at roadside check points. The dye from one 5gal. gerry can of heating oil in a 100 gal truck fuel tank hangs around a long time, unless you do a complete dump and flush. We use road fuel in our gerry cans and take the tax credit for offroad fuel use at the end of the year

    Use to be

The DOT has stuck their nose in and added a few specs to the diesel.
