Out side boilers

My Mom lives in north western Pa. (Potter County) And they are very popular up there. I've talked to some people who have them and love them.

These boilers are for indoor use. Stainless steel heat exchangers, 92% efficient (Gas), 90% efficient (oil).

Direct vent and what appears to be a modulating gas valve.

We installed one

a few months back. Pick it up,one man-one hand! The relief valve and return adapters leaked at the weld.They supplied a new one which seems to be doing ok. Supposedly they can't be zoned but was told their engineers are looking to solve this.Ours was oil fired and starved for O2 with their vent intake kit. We had to pull combustion air from other location.Only time will tell how they hold up. Hardest part of the installation was removing the old steel boiler.
