Wired & Fired

Fired the Viessmann RN280 and got to see it perform. The outdoor temp was 59 degrees. Seattle in July. The staged boiler is a great way to heat large homes with multi-temp zones. The Oventrop radiator TRV's make the cast iron rads easy to balance. BTW, the metric valves did not leak when used on the existing US pipe threads (Rorke's Rule). Were sold on the "Kanga Tape", heavy teflon sold by Blueline Supply. It's always a blessing when you assemble over 200 threaded fittings and there's nary a leak. The owner was pleased with the ease of operation of the boiler computer. The mechanical room is currently being plastered and painted. We pumped in a chemical cleaning solution (treatment #2) and will flush and refill in late Sept.
The next project is another historic home boiler replacement, which also is a gravity conversion with rococco radiators. Great to be able to play in these old homes. I'm currently revising the ART website and should have the new projects pages posted late Aug.

Chemicals
I use Chem Aqua CB93 system cleaner and CB777 pump lubricant and corrosion inhibitor.
You're going to use Buderus "solidoflux" wall panel rads on a steam system? I'm not sure they're designed for steam use.??
