Use hot water for boiler makeup water. - George

On a replacement hot water boiler installation is there any practical reason or code issue with NOT tapping the makeup water from the domestic water heater rather than the city cold line?
a fast fill valve will also be installed.
it's just as easy tap from the hot or cold in this installation. seems like it would prevent someone dumping cold water into a hot boiler by mistake.
and code issues?
