Piping of air scoops question...Boilerpro

Have an existing 4 inch Taco air scoop that is bushed to 3 inch right at the inlet with a 90 only a few inches before that. I understand the 90 is too close...turbulence causes the air to mix with the water. However, I wonder if the inlet being bushed down greatly effects performance? Thanks for any help!

The piping should be full sized. At least on the inlet.It should also be piped on a strate run, with no turns of any sort.The water is rolling through the pipe. Turning and spiraling through the inside the pipe like a cork-screw rollercoaster ride. The water needs some time too settle so that the air can "purge" more easily.This is espesially important if it is your only air eliminator.0 -
Velocity
is the real question. The elbow is a no-no but if your piping it for 2 or 3 ft/sec it might work. You like to work with big stuff so if the pipe and flow rate is already at 3" then you need to straighten out the piping. You could also put in a 3" B&G rol-air-trol, they don't care about the elbow.
