HB,
Better late than never, eh? You said I'd hear from someone yesterday, but it took an extra day. Looks like we're back in the mix with our reluctant customer(G). I responded with some new guidelines & they're anxious to begin once again. Scaled back, to be sure, but installed in a manner that will allow for upgrades without revamping the system. Bells & whistles set aside for now - just meat & taters with a nice portion of gravy.
Thanks for the support!
Dave,
After discussing our options, we have made some decisions on our
heating project. We would like to pursue this project with you, assuming we
can meet our budget. If we can not meet our budget constraints, then we
must pursue other options. These options are acceptable to us; however,
their experience in radiant floor systems is inferior to yours. I
understand we will not be able to install the ideal system; however, I am
hoping we could install the "guts" of a system that would allow us to
upgraded it in a phased approach over the next year or two. We realize that
the floor potection will not be ideal right away, but our goal would be to
develop a more thorough system as we improve our cash flow position. If you
would like to work with us, I would gladly sit down with you to try and
develop a workable plan that will meet our needs. We are willing to discuss
all options and also to brainstorm idea's with you. No matters who installs
our system, we realize the hardwood floor will not be fully protected;
however, as we upgrade the system for greater comfort and protection, I want
the best qualified contractor partnering with us throughout a multi-phased
project. If you are willing to accept the operational challenges our
project will surely demand, we would like the opportunity to work with you.
If our constraints do not fit your business model, then I respectfully offer
my thanks for all your help and we will pursue other options. If we
move forward with discussions, I am available this week. Thanks again, and
we look forward to hearing from you.

It's karma, dude.
If they are serious, how could they not choose to work with you? You are one of the guys that I look up to. Once they actually get involved with this, you may be surprise what the project ends up like. I've been there too. Would you like me to send Guido for a visit ;-) I think we need to set a couple hours aside some time soon for some bar stool brainstormin' next time Rob Bean is in the area!

Well done
I'm telling you your response to this guy was moving. I was searching realty.com to buy an extra house just to have you install the heating system. Seems to me anyone would want to do it right the first time. Good to see "Rusty Van" thwarted again.0
