IBC SFC 199 heat exchanger

I was quoted a oil/propane conversion with a IBC SFC-199 combi boiler. On paper it seems like a good unit without much criticism on "the web".

But, there seems to be some confusion over the heat exchanger, some claiming it is stainless, while IBC says it is copper tubing in cast aluminum.

Concern is about "dis-similar metals" interaction was a concern. Kinda like mixing aluminum and copper wiring.

What say you all?

IBC is correct… This is the Superflow unit. The VX and SL are stainless steel.

The aluminum block w/ the copper is fine. Water only touches the copper portion. The Aluminum is the fire side. I have approx 200 of these blocks out there as boilers, combis and tankless WH.

I even have the SFC 199 n my own home.

Very quiet and trouble free overall.

The Weil Ultra is an aluminum block boiler. As low ph condensate runs across the aluminum it forms a sludge. In the Ultra the sludge could plug the condensate drain, and it is downhill from there.

I would definitely check the combustion side every few years,

I’m not sure how IBC aluminum holds up to condensate, maybe a better alloy or a coating?
