Phase 3 not firing
Hi folks, hope you can help. I have a phase 3 indirect and just installed a new taco 007e pump on boiler because I believed the pump was bad. No hot water and noticed the pump was spinning and burning hot but pipe cold. Switched stuff on & off rapped on pump and magically hot water cane back (have seriously bad hard water, figured debris in systerm jammed & fried pump, etc). So replaced pump and relay now shows zone with red light; green light with power. Bled air by shutting vale at tank end of pump, and connecting hose at valve at the end of pipe extending from pump to heater but no air came out, just cold water. Still no hot water? Boiler hot and right up through the tee-header, and new pump (0700e) has flashing green light. Pipes ice cold on the other end of pump…when I unplug the wire on aquastat, the pump's light goes off; on when I plug it back in. No hot water Aaaaahhhhh!!!

Air or a valve off ? Post the location of the valves you used to purge . It could get confusing selecting the correct valves . You want force the water though the complete zone piping to remove any traped air ..
There was an error rendering this rich post.

Phase 3 has an air vent on top of the tank I believe. That may keep the tank air locked. Show us a pix.

I think you are correct (HVACNUT), that I haven't a clue how to purge this system. To clarify, I did not replace the relay, just mentioning that it reads red correctly when a zone calls for heat. After your post, I attempted to fire a separate baseboard zone just to see what happens, and the boiler would not fire for that either. Although, the relay continues to recognize each of the zones (including the Phase III zone) with a corresponding red light when called, nothing fires the boiler. So I shut the boiler down last night. Which is where it stands now; entire system is now completely cold. Flipping the power switch on and pushing the restart did not fire it up, stone cold….Here are pics of the system. Is it possible that the entire system (not just the Phase III zone) needs to be purged of air? Assuming, that is, that I can figure out how to fire up the boiler to get adequate PSI going…Re the purge procedure I did last night (that didn't work), I shut the vale directly above, exiting the circle pump, then connected a hose to the valve at the end of that pipe where it enters the Phase III. Cold water came out; no air.

Looks like you just let water out and maybe more air in, did you pressurize the system ?

Remove the cover from the Redideo aquastat on the boiler.
Jump the low voltage TT terminals and see if the burner starts. It seems the circulators are running but not signaling the burner.
If TT is jumped and the burner still doesn't start, its either up to temperature, or no 120 vac at B1. Can you test for voltage?
BTW, the air eliminator in the indirect has been replaced at least once already. The existing is 1/8" while the OEM was 3/4".

Looks like a lot of leaks, water exits, air enters. Water feed valve closed, no new water entering to maintain the water and pressure.
Repair the leaks.
