Has anyone out there had experience pulling one of these apart to service? i have had good and bad luck pulling apart air separators. I have one that appears to not be pulling air out of a running system….quite a few air bubbles at start up.

The top is removable and replaceable. The part number is 49-1rp. There is no loctite, it has an 0-ring seal.

I think you will find most all the brass models, of any brand are assembled with a fine thread and o-ring. They should disassemble easily. that gets you into the media inside.

The top end, the air vent mechanism itself, is rebuildable, replaceable on some brands.

It should be yes…. I have had some spirovents that did not want to come apart. Was looking for some good/ bad 1st hand accounts.

often times it is the air valve that in not functioning. Some brands allow you to remove just that part. Hand tight on the Discal.

But we have seen some badly slugged units on here. That requires breaking apart the center assembly.

You need a wrench for the first time, then you can hand tighten that center assembly also, on the Discal.

I agree the brand you mentioned can be hard to break open, they seem to use a coarser thread, maybe some assembly sealer?

In all honesty, haven't received many calls on the 4900's and being service in the field. Much different device than the Vortex.

There is a shut-off valve for the air vent, a small flat blade screw driver to open/close the valve.

    Thanks.

Biggest issue is that it does not seem to be working. system is purged but the rest of the air seems to rattle around in the system for a long period of time.

I do not hear anything from the air vent. I am guessing it plugged w/ minerals
