Boiler replacement questions

I currently have a 14 yr old Buderus GB142 boiler with a leaking HX (indirect DHW ST-150, which is working fine, will keep). I am looking at a replacement and would love your input. My home is 2,600 sqft, baseboard heating (~250 linear ft of copper fin tube). I have well water which is a little acidic, even with treatment, so I am a lttle concerned about aluminum HX with well water. Looking at Lochinvar Noble NKB110N, but also looking at Boasch Greenstar, Burnham Alta 120. Is there any other Boilers I should consider and any boilers that stand out for consideration

Leaking HX on a 14 year old Buderus is rare. Is there any warranty left on that boiler? The Bosch people took over that line of boilers and they make an even better product. Try to see if the Bosch folks can help you with the replacement equipment. Labor is not covered but it you can get a free replacement or even a pro rated replacement boiler, that is in your favor.

EDIT: it looks like you may be eligible for a 25% discount of the HX or comparable product subject to the limitation of the warranty :

Warranty coverage is strictly limited to the original residential retail purchaser and is voided if the boiler is relocated, installed in non-residential buildings, or if maintenance is not performed annually by a professional.  The warranty does not cover labor costs for removal, reinstallation, or repair, nor does it cover parts not provided by Buderus or failures resulting from improper installation, water quality issues, or freezing.

A professional must apply for the warranty.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

The GB142 is an obsolete boiler. Don't bother with the HX. Replace the boiler based on contractor recommendations. Don't be too concerned with what brand boiler. Be very concerned with the contractor you choose.

Agree on this point. But still check out the warranty, You may be able to get a Bosch replacement with the 15% discount from the Buderus warranty. I agree that the GB142 is not what I would want to keep, and if all they offer is the GB142 HX then go with something else. Still check out the warranty status.
