Tekmar 519 Woes

Options

I must be really dim but I am having a tremendous challenge attempting to understand the operation of this thermostat. I go through the settings with the manual in hand but…

So I have floor sensor and at times I want to switch to just room air . So I set it by selecting Room and bump the temp setting up but the system does not kick on.

Have been searching for a video that has a good explanation but no luck so far.

Advice?

Thanks!

If someone would be willing to "educate " me here is what would be great!

What settings for using just a "Floor Sensor "

What settings for just "Room/Air" Sensor.

    Thanks!

The installer portion, the blue highlighted section, of the settings allows you to select the sensors it is reading.

You can do air only, floor only, or floor and air.

If you want to change the mode I believe you need to go back into the setting menu, not just pushing the up/ down arrows.

Why do you want to go back and fort between control modes?

Where did you buy the control. If through a wholesaler or supplier, they or the loacal rep should be up to speee on adjusting the stat?

Or call tekmar tech support when you are in front of the control to learn the setting procedure.

its really not designed to go back and forth on a whim between floor settings and air temp settings. you can do it but you must navigate the menus to switch between those modes like posted above. the design of these is meant to be very versatile, you can control only floor temp, only air temp, or both. the issue with both is people often set the floor minimum so high that it over temps the air temp. is there an issue you are facing with comfort in the room that makes you want to switch between floor and air?

    Bob,

I got it from Supply House. The local rep won't even give me the time of day because I didn't buy it from him. Maybe I will try Tekmar direct even if it takes a number of days to get a response.

there is a good chance a tech support person will basically read the same directions you have.

Hold both arrows down for 5 seconds to get into installers mode.

Scroll down to the various selections

I imagine the first option allows you to select floor sensor? Try it you can’t damage the control trying setting options

Note in ROOM SENSOR the built in room sensor can only be disabled when an aux sensor is connected

I think the only time you might do that is if the stat was in an outside wall, or remotely mounted, then an aux air sensor would be used

    Thanks Bob.

I think what I am wanting to know is exactly what settings are for

    1. Floor Sensor Only
    2. Air Sensor Only

The reason I would want to switch between the two is when we get those warm spells,Spring and Fall, it seems that I get a better response from Air vs. Floor.

    Hope that Makes sense

The question is, are you more concerned with maintaining a warm floor, a certain surface temperature always?or keeping a comfortable air temperature, say 70-72°?

It seems the floor/air setting gives you the best of both, what don't you like about that setting?

If you want to maintain a comfortable room temperature during the cooling season, and a warm floor, at some point either you are running heating and cooling. to keep the floor warm, or turn off the bath radiant for the summer, and the floor stays at ambient..
