This is my first post on this forum I don't know who els to ask I will do my best to explain my issue. Thank you for reading I greatly appreciate it

I just purchased a House that has a EK system 2000 that was installed in 2016 3 days after I moved in I noticed it getting cold in the house I went to the basement and the 140 Deg light was flashing and the Resideo R7284 said hard lock out I reset them and it fired right up and ran fine for 3 full days. it happened again so i contacted the previous owner and they said it locked up on then once in January and they had a company come and they said every thing looks great but there was a power outage/power surge so they replaced the Beckett burner control to the Resideo. I called my oil company and they can in and performed a full yearly tune up and burner cleaning and the tech said everything looks great and didn't go into diagnosing the issue. it has happened 4 more times in the last 2 weeks ive checked the circulator pump the 3 zone valves and all look good to me the valves open and close and the pump is circulating. the system does have a tigerloop installed if that makes a difference there is no oil in the top chamber or excessive condensation but the vacuum gauge before the tigerloop is barely off the zero mark. any help would be greatly appreciated I have a wife and very young daughter and this is starting to worry me. the system and oil tank are from 2016 the oil tank is about 6 feet away from the boiler and the oil line is run overhead if that makes a difference.

Thank you again.

    The 140 code means return water temperature didn’t rise enough within 27 minutes. If pressing the reset button started the burner, then the tech must troubleshoot the burner. The Puff Switch should be wired in series with the cad cell using that primary. So with the flue pipe like it is, its possible the Puff Switch is opening and putting the primary into safety. There's only one way to find out.

    Can we get a picture of the rest of that flue pipe? That's crazy that you had multiple techs look at that and say that it's ok.

    @Enunes13

    Good morning,

    All good info here. The 140 flash is happening due to the burner lock out in this case as pointed out, the manager is looking for a temperature rise over 100 degrees at the return sensor. When this isn't achieved, we go into a freeze protection and open all the outputs and leave the circulator on to keep the water moving.

    Yes, also as pointed out the puff switch will be wired in series with the cad cell and it's designed to open at positive pressure. Best course here would be to have a service professional come in and check boiler for soot and confirm draft is present. I would ask him to address that smoke pipe issue as well. While our boiler's do run with smoke pipe back pitched as stated in our install manual, proper draft must be present for it run correctly. It would be a good idea to pull that smoke pipe all apart and be sure its clear and get some support on the piping Also look at any oil feed issues or burner issues present. Lastly, after all is cleaned and checked, confirm burner settings with a combustion analyzer.

    The tech can call in to ek here and i can help him with any questions he has.

    When I had it serviced last week he said the flue pipe looked strange with that bend. I have 603 chimney coming in today to investigate further and check it out. Also when they did the efficiency test with the service it was at 84%. Ill report back after the flue is checked and adjusted I appreciate it

    Much better. But we don't know for sure if that was the cause of the burner lockout.

    The primary will display the reason for lockout. "No ignition", "Flame loss", etc. If the 140 code happens again, check the primary display.

    Ok the primary always shows hardlockout is there a button i need to hit to see the trouble codes?
