I have a 1.5 year old Ascent Plus Combi boiler (gas fired) and have not had heat in the morning for much of the past week. There are two issues but the most critical is every morning the unit is not running and "250" is blinking on the digital temp gauge readout. My heating company is telling me that it means it hit the high temp limit and shut off - is it a temp readout or an error code. Anyway, the heating people have replaced a sensor and now are saying it needs a need inlet pump that directs water into the boiler (or maybe it needs a new circulating pump??) Rather not spend that kind of money if not needed - I have a feeling they will replace this and it still wont work. Please note - I can reset the system by holding the red reset button and turning unit on and off and it will re-fire, run and provide heat but this morning to shut off at 130AM and ran and then was "250" again at 6AM. This is getting old Thoughts? I feel like its a electronic issue not a pump issues cause the pump DO work when the unit is runnning.

Separately in this same time frame had condensate running down the flue shutting off the boiler - the cup to catch stray condensate is filling up overnight in 0F weather and now in 30F weather. My heating guys temporarily put a tube at the bottom of the cup and are draining that into a bucket (permanent fix for that is $ which I'm bypassing for now until 250 problem is solved.

Heating company is coming over this afternoon probably to replace a pump…

With regard's to the 250 lock out on your boiler. Yes, it is overheating. This can be caused by A few different things, but it all boils down to circulation. Air in the system, a blocked plate heat exchanger or a bad circulator are the leading causes. Its good to have a professional come and look at it, and if they have any questions with regards to the trouble shooting have them call here and i can guide them along.

Also note that most parts are under warranty for another 1.5 years so it would be beneficial to have the tech call in to us.
