Question on my 10-15 year old US Boiler Burnham Series 3 boiler
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has run into this issue before with these. It's the smaller size of these units without a fan, and I'm running natural gas.
So now and then the bricks along the sides of the combustion chamber will flake off, and they will also canter in and need to be pushed back. Also due to natural gas being wetter here, the end where my burners fit into is really starting to rust away.
I looked at some service manuals and it seems that these are built on top of what I want to replace. Meaning I'd have to remove the unit to get to everything and not just have access to those bricks or to replace or do something with the bottom mount for the burners.
Has anyone run into this or fixed this issue? The rest of the boiler seems fine, it's not leaking, and at least from asking AI (Grok is great sometimes) it said usually the only issues with these is what I'm going through.
On that note, I don't mind cleaning the burners a few times over the winter and it seems that my rusted bracket can be mitigated a few different ways. So if that's the solution then that's fine too, I just don't want to replace it early for something inexpensive since I have the time and somewhat the skills to fix it.
Thanks!

The brick chamber will collect moisture when not in use . First fire it should be "Candled" . Slowly brought up to temperature . Too fast the moisture breaks into steam and explodes the out the brick ..
