Buderus sacrificial anode
Hi guys I need to check/replace the anode rod in my Buderus S32/5W indirect. I’m wondering do I need to use tape or dope on the threads? It has a gasket on it between the threads. Thanks in advance.

That looks like a BSP straight thread, so the gasket is what makes the seal. There may be a recess in the tank fitting to captivate that seal, prevent it from squishing out.
Make sure the old ring is cleaned out of the tank fitting for a good flat, clean seal.
No harm in putting a small amount of pipe thread teflon on the thread so the threads slides easily. I would not use teflon tape.
Biggest issue is folks ted to over-tighten that type of connection thinking it is a tapered thread doing the seal. That crushes the seal and more you tighten the worse it gets.
A bit more that hand tight should compress the seal without damaging it. If you dig deep enough you could probably find a torque specs for that connection.
Hemp or teflon string is another way to seal a straight thread connection
