Laars Combi

I am heating my floors with a Laars Combination boiler "Combi" Its been installed for seven or so years. In those years, it has gone down multiple times. Normally, it's just the internal screen plugged with mosquitoes and moth debris, but last summer I replaced the main control board. I just retired and will be going away for a couple heating months and a bit concerned about it going down while I am away. My question is, can anyone with Laars Combi Experience let me know what spare parts, I should keep on hand in the event of it needing to be repaired? No one in the area that I called stocked anything for mine. It is a model MFTCW 140k BTU. Weighing in on the overall reliability of the Laars would be appreciated as well.

I have posted on the main wall a topic of "Back-up Heat" and have since decided to buy multiple portable electric heaters to use if needed while waiting for repair.

If you have a regular issue with bugs clogging up screens I would take preventative measures to clean those screens before it becomes an issue. It can be tricky to predict what will fail next on a boiler, if you have some flue recirc it might be the fan, electrical issues it will be a board, pump or ignition transformer, improper fuel mixture (or just age) it will be flame sensor and igniter, poor water quality/lots of makeup water, 3-way valve, pump and possibly heat exchanger (not a repair part really)

If I were stocking parts for any condensing boiler I would be looking at these parts first and would stock according to my budget.

    Flame sensor- igniter

    ignition transformer

    pump

if it has an internal LWCO or pressure sensor that can shutdown the unit it goes here.

    fan

    board

3-way valve actuator (can usually clean the valve body if doing it yourself, too expensive to pay a tech to clean just replace.)

as a note I think supplyhouse stocks parts for this unit, you may check availability with them they tend to ship quickly

Thanks @GGross for the input. I will begin to price out those components listed and figure out what makes sence to stock and see what the supplyhouse has and ship in a rush.

Is this the Laars Mascot boiler?

There have been a few versions of that boiler , be sure replacement parts fit the size and vintage of the boiler you have

it is a Mascot. I will be sure to use my serial number as I order parts.
