2” underground gas line from house to pole barn to glass making oven
Was air tested
No fittings underground
Bubbled and electrinic tested all joints
They occasionally smell gas outside by pole barn

You very likely have a leak. You need a Licensed Master plumber or gas utility worker with a gas sniffer ASAP. You could spray exposed pipe joints with a soapy water spray to see if you get any bubbles. Mad Dog

The smell of gas is surely a concern. Call in the person who did the underground and have them fix it. And if you like, get some of this spray. It sticks nicely to the pipe and fittings. It shows a nice bubble at the leak. The other good idea is what @Mad Dog_2 says above. A soapy solution works too. I have found that the Blue stuff pictured here can find some of the smallest leaks.

regulator with bad diaphragm, problem with the utilization equipment? does the diagnostic dial on the meter move after a period of time?

If the leak is underground you should have a dead patch of grass, if they only smell gas sometimes it sounds like a purge somewhere (regulator, vent…), or a small amount may be leaving the oven prior to ignition.
