I have had a new Utica UH1606HSID boiler installed for combo single pipe steam + hot water loop heating. It is in the basement, and the flue goes into the chimney. Yes, there are separate liners for fireplace and boiler/water heater.

my old Bernham boiler had a draft diverter.

TThis new utica doesnt need one?

The draft diverter is built into the boiler, between the top of the access door and the flue pipe. Take a look up inside there.
