Baseboard covers

Homeowner here. My hotwater baseboards have the classic steel covers with the adjustable damper, and to be honest, they look like crap and the dampers have a tendency to settle closed over time.

I've seen the ads for the newer, perforated covers—cover luxe is one brand. They look great, and not too challenging to install. They advertise they are more efficient, 'aim' more heat towards the center of the room, and so on. Is that true, or just sales pitch?

I'm inclined to do them a room or 2 at a time, budget willing. Do they really make a comfort difference, or is it just cosmetic?

efficiency claims are almost certainly bogus or exaggerated for the sales brochure. From the wholesale side of things we sell a ton of slant-fins revital/line replacement covers. They fit on most back plates, are resistant to corrosion (great for baseboard pieces in a bathroom), and they look pretty nice.
