Proper Venting of 1” 1/4 Single Pipe Baseboard
Hi Guys!
So I made a massive mistake a while back when I first bought my property and cut out a few of the steam baseboards. I’ve since installed a mini split and it’s great for AC in the summer, but in the winter the heat is extremely weak compared to steam.
I’ve started to rebuild the system and replace what I’ve broke, so far this has involved tracing the pipes I’ve cut back to a fitting, unscrewing that piece and replacing is with a correct length pipe with threads on both sides, with radiator valves attached. It’s been a massive pain but I’m at a place now to install the heating elements.
My question is this:
I plan to purchase H-6 baseboard heating elements, as well as SlantFin Multi/Pak 88 enclosures for each of the locations, but what do I need to add vents? Just an 1 1/4 reducer to the vent size? Can I use thermostatic valves with this setup? Do thermostatic valves replace air vents or are they used together? And are there any best practices when installing vents?
Thank you!

How long is the baseboard? You would be better off setting it up as 2 pipe unless the baseboards are extremely short. Something like Baseray cast iron baseboard would work better than copper or steel fin tube.
You would pitch the baseboard opposite to the steam supply, you'd still connect an air vent, and you'd run the end opposite end of the baseboard to a wet return below the water line.

One section is 4ft the other is 6ft. Interesting idea but that would require a full overhaul of the system. It’s currently pipes for single pipe steam, and did woke before I cut the ends off. I’m just trying to get it back to working order

they probably will work if you pitch them toward the valve. if you haven't bought the parts yet baseray would be better.
what are the emitters in the rest of the system?

Wow the baserays looks great. It says they come with 3/4 tappings, would I then get a 1 1/4 to 3/4 adapter to connect from the radiator valve to the heating element?
The rest of the system is single pipe baseboard steam, that’s what I’ve been researching and seeing there’s other options for elements Ill go with the baseray if I can figure out the connections.
these are the valves that I have

If the rest of it is baseboard then it might be better to use baseboard but I would use the steel element if that is what the rest of it is. You want them to all have similar thermal mass so they have similar cycle rates.

If you run baseboard one pipe steam your going to have to try and pitch the baseboard inside the enclosure back to the valve. It would be better to make it two pipe and you can do this pretty easily even if there is no wet return near by. Run a 1/2" return off the baseboard and go through the floor down to the basement floor. Then elbow up and put a tee in the steam supply looking down and connect the baseboard return there.
