Finished the install and wow! Maybe 10-15 seconds and there is hot water in the shower at the other end of the house.

Was this a dedicated return line or one of those cross connect valves that gets installed under a sink at the farthest point?

    A dedicated return line.

you will want the entire loop insulated or you will have a some heat loss and increased fuel bill.
Worse if it runs all the time. If it is on demand that would be less heat loss.
But a DHW recirc loop is basically a small hydronic heat loop.

    Bob,

It is on a timer and I only need it to run for less than 1 minute.

I put a 4 gallon mini heater in the basement just below our kitchen sink, and we get hot water in less than 5 seconds now instead of 30. I like this plan because it puts less stress on the plumbing IMO.

Continues circulating system cost an arm and a leg to run. Disconnected mine. Now I just run the hot water in the tub and have quick hot water. Water is cheap.
