Hydronic Buffer Tank

I have come across a new installation. This is a 4 pipe , Lochinvar M/N# RBT 80.
I have checked the Buffer tank Installation instructions , to find LH connections
call for Bldg. loop IN/OUT at Bottom & Top respectfully. The RH OUT/IN call for
OUT/IN at Top & Bottom respectfully.
This new install appears to have RH & LH sides switched. Is this just an open vessel
& although , it is piped incorrectly , will give off heat to the hydronic loop?
There is no Indirect DHW tank in this application.

yes it is just an open tank
Top is boiler in and system out in the other top
Bottom are boiler return, system return
Boiler can go into either side, there is no right or left requirement
