You've been bleeding the radiator for five minutes and not getting air. The system pressure is high enough and yet the rad is cold but the first floor is warm. In this video, I chat about the two two most common types of hydronic heating loops, Direct and Reverse return. Hope you like it.

This video is what separates the men from the boys or should I say a well engineered system from a poorly engineered system. On numerous occasions I had to explain why our system install price was higher than that of the competition. All of the cheaper system installs were engineered for direct return while all of ours were always reverse return. Another great educational video, @ray.wohlfarth115344

Another great video Ray, my house was poorly converted from steam to hot water and I’m working through the warm/cool rooms as I repipe and add insulation.

I have an air to water heat pump in my 1300 SF house in Maryland. Direct return. No balance issues because I balanced when it was new, and it is difficult for anyone to adjust the flow to the fan coils. My house has fan coils in the basement, first floor and 2nd floor.

Thanks @markpawlowski Good luck with that project

@bhiggins Direct return can be challenge What kind of a Delta T are you getting on the fan coils?
