Waterfurnace Premier water flow light

I have a 22 year old Waterfurnace. The heat stops when the water flow light starts blinking. A simple power cycle will restore the furnace for a few days. My research states it should be a clogged water filter/strainer but I don't see one on the unit, a flow sensor but I don't know where that is or one of the 2 pumps. Any ideas on what this fix can be? Thanks

WSHP are required to have the correct water flow to run reliably. Being 22 years old the coin in the heat pump may need to be flushed and descaled.

Sometimes in the end of the hoses (if your HP is hooked up with hoses) have a small metal strainer on the end of the hose you have to disconnect the hose to find that.

I don't think they have flow sensors (but they could). Most of the units have "Pete's Plugs" which are fittings used to measure the pressure drop across the heat pump to check the proper flow. The manual for the unit should have more information. Water Furnace are decent unit from what I know.

I pulled both pumps off and there was no debris. The water was clear. There was just signs of rust on the parts. I did not see any type of strainer or filter. Both pumps are working. Just seems odd that the issue would resolve for a few days with a simple breaker reset. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Most of the WSHP I had installed had lockout type safeties.

These would be latching type limits that stayed open until the power was dropped via t-stat or 240 volt power.

Pressure and temps in and out of unit would tell you more.
