Oil to Gas conversion. Can I keep the old stainless chimney liner?

I’m in the process of replacing my old 1990’s Vaillant oil boiler, which has ran terribly and constantly blowing soot, with a gas boiler. I had the chimney lined with a 316ti stainless steel liner several years ago.

Does anyone know if I would need to replace the stainless steel liner with a new liner for gas? Any “hazards” with the old oil exhaust residue mixing with the new gas boiler? I did have the liner cleaned by our chimney sweep, but our installer is recommending it be replaced

    There is no problem using it over if it is in good shape and the right size. I would ask the chimney sweep what he saw. I would think if it was damaged the sweep would have told you.

    i would ask why they want to replace it. if the answers aren't one of @EBEBRATT-Ed 's you might want to keep looking.
