I have a WM oil fired boiler that has been making a strange sound when firing like a small chain that rattles against something metal. Checked flame through inspection port and it looked normal to a non professional. Checked ohms 1600 to 2100. Today burner ran for a minute and stopped w message "no flame high ohms" and started post purge. It started pre purge w boiler firing w previous sound. Checked ohms 3200. Cleaned cad cell w tissue. Fired again w noise and same high reading. Tech came fired boiler off and on 10 different times. No sounds w ohms at 1800 to 2400. No messages in memory of Carlin. He said let's see if it does it again and left. Four hours later no metalic sound when started, ran for a minute,

then shut down w no flame, high ohms message. Post purge and then pre purge and fired up w no sounds but ohm were at 2100 to 2300. Not sure if it will happen in middle if night. Suggestions would be appreciated.

1800-2400 ohms is still to high.

Between the noise, high resistance nevermind the Beckett it should be an easy fix.

But the Tech thought 1800-2400 Ohms were good. Think you need a different guy.

Agree with @BDR529 your ohms should be like 700. Tech doesn't know that get a new tech or call the service manager. You're going to get lockouts with the ohms that high and the burner need cleaning and adjustment and a combustion test.
