in THE MAIN WALL

How fast should a B & G 100 bearing assembly turn. I replaced the motor mounts, coupler and bearing assembly with new oil. Runs ok but seems slow. Don’t how fast it should run. Thanks

    1650 rpm, I believe.

    8.33 lbs./gal. x 60 min./hr. x 20°ΔT = 10,000 BTU's/hour

    Two btu per sq ft for degree difference for a slab

    RPM should be listed on the motor rating plate. Laser tachometer to test.

    Thanks Alan. I just don" know how fast the coupler should turn when I look at it.

    If it's pumping I wouldn't be concerned. They are all single speed motors so there is no way any miswiring can make it run slow.

    If it was running slow the motor would probably be burning up (smoking). Don't be concerned if the motor is hot they run hot.

    @Sung I remember the same sensation when I changed my first B&G coupler many years ago. Turned the thing on, and it had this quiet purring sound. Made me think it was too slow. Yours is probably fine.

    For @Sung: The Bell & Gossett Series 100 motor is a 1/12 HP, 115 volt, single-phase, 1725 RPM, oil-lubricated motor designed specifically for Series 100 booster pumps.

    I miss oiling my 1953 B+G circulators, changing the spring assemblies on them took a while with my fat paws.

    1725 RPM = ~30 revolutions per second. Never really thought about it, but that's fast.
