calculating Nozzle flow rate

I'm trying to calculate flow rate, knowing nozzle rate and pump pressure for when the charts don't give me what I need. (yeah, I'm probably nit picking).

I found a formula in the Carling oem but it doesn't work for me.

No matter how I work it, I come up with 4.64. I used to be good with a spreadsheet! maybe I inhaled too much soot today.

    Maybe the order of operations is giving you trouble.

    First, divide 180 by 100 to get 1.8.

    Second, take the square root of 1.8 which is 1.34164.

    Third, multiply by rated gph at 100 psi of both nozzles combined (2x6=12)


    Answer: 16.1 gph.

    Every nozzle is +/- 10% from its stamped rating at 100 psi. Is that what you call a variable?

    your absolutely right, I was misreading the formula and getting the square root last.
